Stall Holder Of The Week!

Those of you who know me, will already know that I’m not a fan of the cold hard faceless sell but am a huge fan of the personal touch! And that’s partly why The Supermums Craft Fair works so well because when you buy something from a stall, you’re not buying from a large corporation, you’re buying from a small business who cares! Behind every stall is a person and I have always encouraged them to come out and say hello in their descriptions and now I have taken it that one step further with this fabulous feature so you can get to know them even better!

Each week a stall holder from the super duper website will be chosen to become…yes you guessed it… Stall Holder Of The Week! This award is given to someone who has been seen out and about networking their stall and generally being an absolute star! And this week the award goes to…. drum roll please…

IMG_20140102_231343The lovely Deborah from Ava Lynne Hand Crafted Jewellery! Congratulations on being the latest stall holder of the week Deborah! So let’s start off with the most important thing of all… Let’s talk about you! Thank you for choosing my stall, I’m really shocked but in a good way! Anyway, there isn’t really much to tell about myself. I am 36, a single mum to my beautiful 2 year old daughter Ava, I am from Glasgow, and I have 2 younger brothers and a wonderful supportive mum and dad. Oh and I mustn’t forget molly the dog! Career wise I have been in the jewellery industry for about 17 years which was very interesting at times!! My last place of work was Mappin & Webb where I was for 5 years, and If Ava hadn’t come along then that’s probably where I’d still be!

So how long have you been making jewellery for and why did you first start? I’ve only been making jewellery for 8 months and I started while on maternity leave just to keep my brain working really!

I would never have guessed you have only been making for 8 months, your work is amazing! So… your name is Deborah (obviously!) so what’s the reason behind the name “Ava Lynne” That’s an easy one lol! Its my daughters name, I must lack imagination lol!

Definitely not, you have tons of imagination and that is clear to see from your makes…. and talking of makes…..let’s talk wire work, how difficult is it to do? Well it can be a wee bit fiddly but I wouldn’t say its difficult, again I’ve only been dabbling in that for a few months swell so I just play about with the wire and see what happens really. A few of my best pieces were happy accidents!

I love the rings you make, do you have a favourite kind of stone to work with? Ha, yes I do like making rings, perhaps people have noticed that! I love working with any gemstones but on rings I really like to use labradorite as the stone looks best when on the move! The Schiller from the stone is beautiful.

If you didn’t craft, what else would you be doing? This is a hard question as I don’t really remember what I did before I started!

Ha! Fab answer! If you had to pick just one item, which would be your favourite on your stall and why? hmmmm, I think it has to be the pink druzy bangle, its just bright and a bit different from my other pieces.

And its totally gorgeous too! So then, burning question and its one that every stall holder of the week must be asked… chocolate or wine… It has to be chocolate for me!

Wine again for me! Such a shame…. not! So another tough question, if you could only pick one stall to be your favourite on the website, which one would it be and why… that’s easy, it has to be bluebirds and daisies, everything Sarah does is fabulous!!

I am in total agreement with you there! It’s been lovely chatting with you Deborah, I just have one more question before I let you go…. what would you like the future to have in store for Ava Lynne Jewellery Well, I would really like to just keep making pieces that people like to wear, ….. and to make enough money for a private jet lol! I’m not greedy!!

As I’m sure you will agree, Deborah was a fabulous choice for the stall holder of the week award! Of course, there are so many other stalls who have been stars over the last week and they deserve a special mention too. Sadly I can’t pick all of them so each week I will pick just 4 and this week, in no particular order, special mentions are going out to….

Before you go…these are a few of my favourite things…. There are so many amazing and gorgeous products on the website, so many talented stall holders! Each week I will picking just a few of my favourites items to share with you and these are just some of them…. Why not take a little time and browse the site to find your own…
